Many local businesses in your area do NOT know how to market their business online. It’s not that they’re dumb or anything but many are just used to placing ads in their local newspaper and phone directories and you know these things don’t work anymore.

So that’s why they shut their door because their marketing efforts are not effective and are no longer working for them.

To stay in business in today’s market you need to reach more customers and more customer’s means more sales and people still buy and spend their money you just need to go where they hang around which is on the internet.

Folks I know this first hand I work with many small business everyday and they are desperate for help they would rather stay in business than shut their doors forever.

So if you have some knowledge about internet marketing this is a great opportunity for you, one thing with local business is that these folks are willing to pay they’re NOT one of those people that buy a 9 dollar ebook and after a few hours ask for a refund these folks are serious.

So here’s the goal in order for local businesses to stay in business they need to reach more clients and customers, more customers means more sales. Your Job is to help them get more customers and you can do this for them by utilizing the power of the internet.

If they don’t have a blog that’s the start you can setup one for their business and they can get new customers by doing this. With blogging you can optimize your post to attract your target market and you’ll get organic traffic from the search engines.

Setup a Google map for their business so when local customers search for their products or services they will be on page one of the results.

Create them a social media profile for their business like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and so on… this is one way of getting new customers.

You can create a video for them and put their website/blog URL and telephone number on the video and submit this to as many video directories as you want and this will definitely make their phone ring and can also be viral.

My point is if you’re an expert at any one of these strategies then you might as well help your local business and make good money. You can charge them by the hour, piece work or maybe a package deal.

You can even charge them a retainer fee if that’s what you want to do. Also you can do this part time if you have a full time job.

Actually my student Mark Valentine he’s doing this on a part time basis yet he makes a good income. Well I know this is a great opportunity for you at the same time you’re helping your local businesses to stay in business.

I used to suck at selling… many years ago I tried a sales person job here for a cable company it was commission based and it’s door to door hard selling.

I wanted to learn and gain some experience in selling because I knew the importance of selling when you run your very own business.

Whether you like it or NOT when you’re in business you’re into selling, like selling your products or services and this is the main reason I wanted to gain some hands on experience.

But this company’s sales script was lousy I read it and I said this is not going to work plus it’s all a bunch of junk but they said that you need to follow that script to do the job, so I did.

I tried it for a week I sold “ZERO” and I said I will try my own sales pitch and guess what I closed my first deal. So this told me that if you just speak from the heart and be yourself people will take you up on your offer. This is true for me.

In my online and offline business I implemented the same methodology and concept. Just like last year I had a student here locally (let’s just call him Joe and he’s been my student for years and also a good friend of mine) he called me one day and said, “Hey Albert I have this potential client but I am having a difficult time closing the deal.”

At first I told him, “Maybe he’s NOT your target market.” He said “Well Albert he is but he’s just resisting because he doesn’t understand blogging and why he has to do it.” So Joe asked me if I can help him to close this deal and we’ll split this project 50/50.

I agreed and told my friend Joe a few things I said I took this project because I want you to learn and second, it was kind of a challenge to me and I just knew it that I can close this deal. Joe setup an appointment for us 3 to meet in person and I told Joe to bring a laptop and I need an internet connection.

So the 3 of us met in the coffee shop close to my house, when I arrived Joe and our client was there and I gave them both a hand shake and just got down to business and our client had plenty of questions for me.

He was asking why he needs a blog for his business and I asked him back, “Do you have a site for your business?” and he said “Yes.” Then I asked him if it’s working for him, like is it generating customers and converting into sales? He said “NO!” Well that’s why you need a blog! And I explained to him what a blog can do for his business.

The reason your site is NOT working is because you don’t give your target customers a reason to come back to your site because there’s nothing there to come back for.

Your site is a static site meaning it has not changed, it is not interactive and Who cares if you’re in the business for 30 years I’m sorry but your costumers mindset is “What’s In It For Me?”

You need a blog for your business because in today’s business you need to engage with your market or else your business will not survive.

Look what happened to all these multibillion dollar companies they failed, went bankrupt and asked for a bailout because they lost touch with their customers and they think it’s all about them.

You can’t do this anymore consumers are now getting smart and they’ll Google everything so if you’re not engaging with them how can you build a solid relationship with them? Without a relationship they will not know you, they will not trust you therefore they will not buy from you, period.

Customers buy and buy again from the people they know, people they like and TRUST. If you’re in business you should know this.

After I justified the need for a business blog I showed him my traffic statistics (Live! I logged into my admin panel) so he can see for himself that this thing works and at the time I was getting 350 unique visitors and at least 1,000 hits (returning visitors) per day.

I also showed him how I optimize my blog post and the next day it will be on page one in Google. I showed him how he can easily manage everything from the admin panel and there lot’s of plugins for almost everything. You can’t go wrong with it.

I showed him how I engage with my readership and they interact. They participate and leave comments also I showed him how he can build his customer base by simple putting an opt in form after the post…

I also let him read about my post “Surviving Tough Economic Times” after showing all this, I mean I showed everything to him LIVE! Not a PowerPoint presentation…

Don’t get me wrong but anyone can just read a PowerPoint presentation but to show the reality that’s powerful I think. So after all this he said, “Let’s do it!” and we closed the deal.

That night Joe sent him the invoice and the agreement form. Joe and I got busy and finished the project and our client was very happy with the results. To this day Joe and I continue to work on a few projects here and there with him.

You see people don’t want to be sold but if you show them a system and show them it works for you and your main goal is to help them then you don’t need to beg them to buy your product or services.

Many times after I talk to a potential customer their next word will be Ok! I’m sold let’s do it or I want it and where I do send my payment I don’t know about you but that’s pretty good eh!

Many folks that are starting a business online don’t realize that whatever business they get into there’s always “Selling” involved.

Whether you’re offering a product or services and if you don’t have a system or strategy in place you will NOT sell stuff online period. Don’t get me wrong I am not trying to discourage you but it happened to me.

Many folks think it’s easy to sell online but I’ve seen people make sales offline then get into the online arena and can’t sell or can’t even giveaway FREE stuff. It does not mean they suck at selling they just don’t know the system and strategy yet.

Just like for example I have students, Frances Fayden and Denise Liu, that I am teaching how to position their business online and implement strategies and at the beginning Frances didn’t know much about all this technical and online stuff you know blogging, driving traffic and selling their own products.

So I got busy showing and teaching them exactly how I do it. In just a short amount of time they’ve gotten great results… Watch the video to learn more!

Also Frances emailed me about some updates on their traffic statistics and man I was really glad that everything is working out for my students. She actually she sent me an email about it and I asked her for her permission to show you guys her email.

Now that Frances and Denise know the system and strategies all they need to do is to magnify their result and keep repeating the process and apply it over and over.

It seems just like yesterday that I got laid off and I didn’t know what to do and here I am 3 years later running a successful business.

Yes I can say it successful because my business is thriving in this economy which is the opposite of what you’ll hear on the news or just about everywhere…

Geez even those multibillion dollar businesses and corporations are shutting down and asking for a bailout. Even those small business are hurting and shutting down as well, but my business is really doing well…

I get clients from every direction plus my regular clients for the past 3 years are still doing business with me and product sales are great.

Now don’t get me wrong I am NOT bragging about it or anything at all but rather it’s to inspire you that no matter what the circumstances seem like you don’t give up.

Just keep on pressing forward even if you’ve lost everything or you’ve lost your job or you’ve lost your house, just remember winning a race is NOT easy but stay in the race and keep pressing forward and don’t give up.

This is true, clear path to success and eventually you will win… If you want to see proof just watch the video below

Folks this is my first public speaking at a big seminar (Turbo Seminar) it’s actually John Delavera’s event here in Vegas at the Monte Carlo Casino.

There were many great speakers lined up like John Delavera himself, Mark Joyner, Simon Leung, Warren Whitlock, and many more.

I was very excited! Guys right after I spoke a couple gals ask me to take pictures with them and I got invited to speak in few workshops so I felt like a little celebrity for a second  (just kidding)

So don’t get surprised when you see me speaking at one of those big seminars, man this is really a blessing for me. Guys everything that I’ve envisioned is NOW manifesting, I really thank my GOD!

Yes! For me email marketing is dead Yup! RIP. I know I might raise a few eyebrows out there by saying this but let me tell you why and of course this is all based on my own experience and I will also tell you what works for me.

Just like everyone else I’ve tried everything out there. I’ve tried the sequential email and setup my autoresponder to deliver my emails in this setting but this did NOT work for me.

I’ve also tried the Newsletter format that didn’t work for me either. So I really studied this and did my research. Well here’s the problem, people now a day’s really don’t have time to read long emails even if they want to because the lifestyle we have.

We gotta take the kids to school, go to work, go to the grocery store, pickup the kids. Man sometimes it just really hard to keep up plus who wants to read a plain old long email just thinking about it sounds sooooo boring.

You know what? When I see this in my inbox I usually unsubscribe to it as fast as I can and guys this is NOT just me like what I said I did my research and I asked around.

I am friends with some of the great names in my industry and when I ask them about it they said that they experienced the same thing.

Here’s the thing too, the purchase doesn’t happen in the email, it happens on your site/blog so why NOT just divert them directly to your site or blog were they can click the add to cart button or buy your product and services.

Most of the time long emails get filtered by the majority of ISP (internet service provider) so your email will go directly to their spam or junk mail which is NO good because this means it will be automatically deleted so there’s a chance that your email won’t get read.

So what’s the solution to this problem? Well like what I said I will tell you what works great for me. Here’s how I do it, I still use email to notify my members that I have new content or a new blog post for them on my blog and this happens every Tuesday & Thursday.

But instead of sending them a long email I send them a very short one and if they interested in reading the rest they can simply click the link and they will be redirect to my blog where the rest of the content is.

This works great and I’ve been using this strategy for years now and I saw a couple of friends are now doing the same thing.

This format actually gives me and my member’s equal advantage because by doing this they don’t need to read long emails and when they get use to this they will open your email all the time because they know that it will be brief.

Now the advantage of doing this would be that my emails would be read and not go directly in the spam filter or junk mail because it’s short, and if I have 2000 members all these folks will go to my blog so now I am driving traffic to my blog because that’s where they’re going.

Here’s the cool thing though I have my products and services on my blog and if I send people there then there’s more of a chance that they’ll see what I have to offer and they can check them out and then buy them! It makes complete sense, right?

So below I laid out step by step how I do this. First you need new and fresh content (HINT: Video and Audio content gets more traffic) on your blog then notify your followers and use this email template below that I created (this is the actual email I sent out to all of my subscribers)

I’m using this email as an example because this email broadcast broke all the records as far as OPEN RATE! You can probably tell why by the email subject line!

So here’s how you roll with this man!

Email Subject Line: This should be catchy, unique and compelling so when your members see your email in their inbox yours will stand out and grab their attention. If you don’t do this your email will NOT be read period.

So this is very important also use it with caution just like my subject line “I’m Filling for Divorce…” even though I incorporate the curiosity factor I still have to connect the relevancy on my content or blog post.

You need to do this because if you mislead your readership they will get pissed at you. So please be careful on this, ok?

Personalization: Yeah! I know many folks in our market know that this is just an autoresponder but you know what being personal means and call your members by their names.

So apply this feature on your auto responder (Many auto responders have this feature) FYI: I use Aweber (Yup that’s my affiliate link ) on all of my email broadcasts.

Story Highlights: These few sentences highlight your topic and this should serve as a teaser so they’ll click the link and read the rest of your blog post.

Link To Your Site or Blog: This is the link that they will click it to read the rest of your blog post so make sure this link is precise to your post so when they get to your blog there’s NO confusion.

Oh! also try to make the link as short as possible to avoid your link being broken by email or the software that you’re using.

Ask And Get Viral Effect: Ok! this one is very powerful guys, just below my signature file I have one sentence asking my subscribers a favor to forward this email to a few of their friends and this has a possible viral effect!

Even if just 2 people forward your email that’s better than nothing right? Plus that’s a potential customer.

Folks today I have a special guest and she’s been wanting to write here on my blog for a long time but she’s been pretty busy with school but finally she had some time. She has some real great stuff for all of us yes I said for all of us because even me I learned a couple things just by reading her very short post.

But first let me introduce my daughter, Gilian Aja Hallado, she’s 11 years old and she’s in the 5th grade… By the way she’s a straight “A” student and a very good girl, she does her chores (most of the time) she always go to church and Sunday school too (that’s her fave).

Oh! She’s a blogger like me too! Take it away Baby girl… Love you Ja-bean.

When having a business online you want to have some kind of connection with your readers and audience. The first step you need to make your viewers want to read your stuff. And the way to do that is by being nice and by sharing some of your previous work (valuable content) that you’ve done for your customers.

The second thing you need to do is to build up trust. You can build trust by getting to know your customer and what they need and want from their likes and dislikes. The third thing you need to do is stay in touch so that any time they want or need help with their business you’re there to lend a hand. The fourth thing is to be honest.

Don’t lie to your customers and say, “Oh, it’s beautiful, no, I don’t think it’s ugly!” when you know for a fact it’s not gonna draw any attention at all, whatsoever. Let them know what’s gonna work  and what’s not. The fifth thing you need to do is to never take your customers for granted. They might not be there tomorrow or the next day.

Over the years I would say that we had a very good relationship overall it’s just lately that I’ve become more demanding because of my business and it’s required more of my attention and I’ve had to work extra.

My business is getting bigger and bigger every day I have new clients plus my regular clients so lately our relationship has become sour and many time she has let me down and my productivity and motivation really went down big time so with that said I am divorcing my long relationship with PC/Windows and I’ve switched to Mac and I’m NOT going back either.

OK! It’s not what you think my wife and I have a strong relationship and she’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I’m gonna take her to Jamaica and ask her to remarry me sometime in the near future actually she’s the one who bought me a MacBook Pro, but my PC has to go so check it out below. As you can see I am very happy in this picture…

Finally I will have a reliable computer that’s fast and efficient. Also their tech support believes in the principle of providing customer satisfaction and I know this first hand because on my last job I was a network administrator.

I had experience with a Mac but at that time I couldn’t afford it! it was too expensive for me. But now I really need to be efficient in my business. Here’s the thing with PC when I built my own PC (has window XP in it) like 8 years ago I have very minimum problems and I used that PC for 7 years.

Then I went to get a new high end (spec) PC because I was going to be using this for my business the reason I bought a new PC is because they stop supporting their own product which is window XP and this means at some point you will not be able to install a newer software so if you don’t get a new PC you’re pretty much screwed.

Well I got one then just about when its 3 months old it crashed and I needed to replace the hard drive. Oh! by the way this PC has a Windows Vista in it (it sucks!) since it was still under warranty they sent me a new hard drive and of course I lost everything on my old one and that was a hassle big time.

I lost over 2 weeks of my time because I had to configure and re-install everything. After I restored it back to where it was I’ve had nothing but problem after problem and many of these problems are because of the operating system (did I mention Vista sucks!)

And they can’t fix it period, So they expect you to deal with it, yup deal with all the errors (dll), deal with “Not Responding”, deal with “windows will close now”, deal with the PC all of a sudden will just shutdown and you will lose everything that you’ve been working on for the past 4 hours.

Well NOT me Baby!, I have more big opportunities lined up and work that’s waiting and I am tired of all this crap so now I’m divorcing my partnership with PC. Because it got to the point that it was hurting my business because of all these PC problems.

I know many business owners are afraid to make the changes but many times change is good. Folks the moral of this story is don’t let a piece of equipment hurt your business if you need to make that investment you need to do it period, because in the long run you will make more money and get your investment back.

Again, I refuse to deal with this entire PC problem and I am the boss here in my business that’s why I said we’re divorced! PC you are FIRED! Yes! PC Your Fired!

Many bloggers miss this one big time… I might as well not setup a blog if I can’t put my own branding on it. Folks this is very important that you customize and brand your blog’s look and feel especially if this is for your business.

First of all the header graphics is the most important element on the top fold because that is the first thing that your visitors will see. Now if this is not unique or original then it’s really hard to get their attention and many times you will lose this traffic.

Many of my friends and clients always ask me why they’re NOT getting any comments on their blog post. Well there could be lots of reasons why but if you are new to blogging you shouldn’t worry about getting comments and focus more on providing valuable content with your readership and optimizing your post.

Comments will come later when you have an established audience and regular readers. This is the natural cycle of blogging at the beginning, you won’t see any comments but after awhile people will participate.

So what you should be thinking about is how you can provide excellent content because this is very important for your business in the future.

You see I hear many people are throwing in the towel after just six months of blogging. They say, “I’ve been blogging and providing quality content but yet I have NO comments.”

The thing that many don’t understand is your blog posting is NOT in vain at all because that is your equity and your blog post is actually your sales representative. You want to know WHY? Well watch the video and you’ll find out:

So now you know how important your blog post is and the beauty of it is your blog post will be on your blog forever and can generate traffic for your business that would lead to sales, subscriptions and readership.
