First I apologize for NOT posting last Thursday just got really busy and I need to get a project done for a very good friend of mine!
Lately family and friends have been asking me how business is. I think they might be a little concerned about the tough economy and wondering if I still make any sales. I know it’s very tough out there if you see the news it’s all about doom and gloom, so I don’t watch news any more
Also a few friends in internet marketing are asking me if I’m still making a living with my blog. And I say “YES!” Man actually for the past couple of months it’s been great and I am proud to say that I don’t even worry about the economy.
If you remember my last post on the video I said in times like this you need to be positive and you need to turn things around and think that you can do anything in this world.
For many of you I would like to share these tips on how to keep your customers that buy from you and keep them coming back for more!
Well again "NOTHING" is theory here all this is based on my own experience and for the past three years now I have been able to keep the same customers and they keep coming back.
I got curious and I started to ask my customers why they keep coming back to me and here’s some of their responses (I have to warn you some are bias) because you’re my friend, you’re graphics always rocks, you’re very helpful, always give more than what I paid for and so on…
But really I have a very simple system that I learned from my Dad. He’s very big in networking and he always told me in business the more friends you have the more you become successful and he also always told me "No Man Is an Island."
He said you cannot be successful alone it’s impossible and before I just said yeah! yeah! But now I know how important all this is when you have a business, even in life in general.
I remember when the US base was still in Subic Bay (Philippines) my Dad’s friend when their Ship (Like USS Midway or USS Tarawa) is in town they will go straight to my Dad’s place "Johnny O’ Tavern" and "East Coast Rock The Most" that’s the name of the place.
They always bring presents for all of us. I mean for everyone in the family and some of my Dad’s friend actually ended up moving to the Philippines for good so he can hang around with my Dad because they’re best of friends.
But bless his heart he passed away a few years ago we called him Uncle Brown he’s like Santa Clause with a big heart it was always give, give, and give. The reason I was telling you this is because this is actually part of my simple system.
Like what I said I’ve kept the same customers for the past 3 years and they keep coming back for more every week, every month. And most of these people are big names in Internet Marketing, Blogging and offline business.
They’re either in my coaching and consultation program or they need graphics or just simply ask me questions, they keep coming back the same people over and over again.
And here’s why & HOW:
Be Friends with Your Customers: Yes be friends with your customers, NOT Kiss Butt friend so they’ll buy or hire you I mean really be friend with them beyond business. Like my Dad most of his customers became his best friends and became buyers for life NOW that’s powerful stuff right there!
Also if you think about human being it’s in our nature when we buy something it’s based through our emotion and if you like the person selling you the product or services then it makes your buying process easy.
Now it makes it easier if you’re friends with them sometimes they will buy from you just because they like you. And like what I said if you do this you’ll have a customer for life that will keep coming back.
Tell The Truth And Nothing But The Truth: You need to tell them the truth if they have a question. What I’m saying is be completely HONEST to your customers and just be helpful to them and if you made a mistake just tell them you’re sorry and just move on.
This also will help your customer to build that relationship with you and build up their TRUST in you.
Over Deliver: I do this all the time when I know they really need the projects or they have a deadline to meet let’s say Monday then I will finish the project before that and not tell them I’ll just kind of surprise them.
And they come back to me with a big thank you, smile and some of them pay me extra because of this and I don’t even ask for it. Talk about 100% customer satisfaction.
Provide Top Notch Products or Services: I am very big on this it’s almost a given because I have this disease call "Perfectionism" YES I do have that disease even if the product is not mine I treat it as my own thing and if I don’t like it I will scrap the whole thing till it’s perfect! I’m sorry this is just me.
Just Say Hi: Most business doesn’t know the importance of just saying "HI" It’s a very simple thing but many neglect this I don’t know how many times I email or make phone calls to some of my customers just to say hi and I end up doing some business again with them.
They’ll tell me “Hey, I was going to call you because I wanted you to do this for me so what do you think?” and most of the time I will say OK and they’ll pay me
pretty cool eh??
Give them Some Lovin’: Probably you will tell me that I am a weirdo or something but I really don’t care what they say and I do love all of my customers and I am thankful for them that they always give me more business and I will continue to love my customers,
NOT because they pay me but because we’ve build this solid relationship that took years to perfect!
Lastly!
The Power of Reciprocity: Folks again you won’t believe this but many times I just give without asking for anything in return. But it’s like a basketball when you bounce it! it keeps coming back to you, either for more business, money, personal, or health.
Just one great example, I built my pastor a blog for our church and every Sunday service, Tuesday and Friday I will stand up for hours to take videos with the flip camera and I will put it on his blog and I’m doing this because I love to and nothing else.
But guess what? I always get more business and like what I said it’s been great for the past few months really great and our church donation has increased so that’s a blessing too.
BTW here my Pastor’s blog Darrell Thomas Ministries and while you’re there please give him something he’s really a man of GOD and I thank you in advance!
So these are my secrets to why I still make money blogging even in tough times!

Albert,
You hit this one straight on! One can indeed gain more business by simply taking a few moments out of their day(s) and answer emails from potential customers.
It is true that if you write to your customers, or speak to them directly with a friendly tone, or as if you were speaking to a long time friend, the response is staggering.
I myself have picked up quite a few customers for either services I offer or new memberships just by being my friendly self. People appreciate it when the ‘man’, or in my case ‘woman’ behind the curtain comes forward.
Terrific and insightful post. I do hope people take this post to heart. They can learn loads from being more friendly and accessible to their customers and not just an automated responder!

Hey Albert,
I remember you dad’s clubs in Subic. I was there at those two clubs over 20 years ago when I was in the service
.
Anyways, as usual this is another great post and a post which is simple yet important. I’m sure there are others who would agree that they may have felt “shafted” sometime in the past, and simply answering your email can add a whole lot of credibility to your business.
Take care,
Beau
