Mafia Offer, An Offer You Can’t Refuse!

Mafia Offer

I was on my Facebook profile and saw this Mafia Offer (in Mafia Wars) and it got me thinking WOW! This is something very powerful that you can apply to your small business. What exactly is a Mafia Offer anyways?

Well if you’ve seen the movie The Godfather there’s a line in there that Don Corleone said, “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse” and that line became famous.

A Mafia Offer is basically an offer you can’t refuse so if you have a product or services that you’re selling you should create a mafia offer, right? But how can you incorporate this with your business?

Well fuugget about it! I’m here to your rescue 😆 A Mafia Offer is about presenting and positioning your product for more value and benefits. Now don’t get me wrong this has nothing to do with pricing your product cheaper than your competition this is NOT a mafia offer.

I’ve seen many people do this and it’s a huge mistake your price can be higher a lot higher that your competition and still sell more, it has nothing to do with your price at all its how you present the Offer.

Here’s a perfect example: let’s say you went to the restaurant and ordered a T-bone steak and when your steak comes it’s just a steak on the plate that’s it, no side dishes, no garnish it’s just a steak…

Well you’ll probably say to your waiter Ah! Excuse me, what is this? I mean where’s the rest?? You see your confused and you probably just lost your appetite.

Now let’s take a look at the opposite view let’s say your waiter put your steak on the table with a big smile and your steak has mashed potatoes with roasted garlic on top, it has the sauté mixed vegetables, the parsley, all the condiments and steak sauce and your waiter closes by asking you, “Is there anything else I can get you ?” Now this is a mafia offer.

Just by looking at your steak makes your appetite skyrocket plus with all the side dishes, the polite and great service it makes you want to come back for more.

Now this is the same thing with your product and services when you present them as an offer don’t just put a huge package together and price it low but rather emphasize the value and benefits meaning if you have bonuses don’t just put bonus 1,2 and 3 ect..

Make sure you take your time to present the bonus as a value added to the general structure of the offer and explain or demonstrate what it does.

Just like when you’re watching a late night infomercial and you see all these pitchman really emphasizing the value and benefits plus the exclusivity by saying this is not available in stores you can only get this offer if you call right now.

Actually my favorite is Gorge Foreman he really knows how to put a mafia offer together, also Ron Popeil this guy is amazing especially the one where he’s selling Cutlery & Knives. Man you should watch it I know you can get the same knife at Wal-Mart for less than $20.

But Ron Popeil knows how to put a mafia offer together that you can’t refuse that’s why they sell millions of dollars with a freakin knife, can you believe that? So a Mafia Offer is actually common sense when you present your offer don’t be too “vanilla” but rather spice it up a little bit and make it unique so it will stand out.

Use the steak as an example also remember it’s not the product or services that you’re selling but the whole entire offer that makes the mafia offer and how you present and structure it. ah! fuugget about it! 😆

Hope this helps and I hope you learn and put it to work. If you have something to say well speak up and comment below. Take care and love you guys.

Till Next Time and God Bless You!

    Great blog Albert –

I think most Internet Marketers either are providing a Mafia Offer or they are trying to create a Mafia Offer without realizing it.

    A great anology!

    Hey Albert,

Great post and a super great analogy with the steak dinner!

You hit the nail on the head about pricing. You can sell the “exact” same items at a “higher” price and people will still break the mouse button trying to click on the “buy” button.

And the reason why is because of “how” you “package” the “offer”. People are “buying” the “entire offer” – not just the item that you’re selling them. Big difference!

    Thanks again buddy!!

    Blessings – Duane

    Great post Albert!

Of course everything you write about comes from having good common sense.

This one did more than making good sense.

    It made me HUNGRY 🙂

Thanks for sharing you knowledge with us.

    Hi Albert,

    Awesome analogy!

You are so right about competing on price. Many tend to believe competing on price is the way to go, however long term in many cases this will lead to the demise of a business. A business can only exist for so long with meager profits … eventually it will collapse.

Another strategy that can sometimes be detrimental is offering sales, coupons and discounts. This approach and train customers to only buy when a discount is offered.

Thanks for the great recommendations … The Mafia Offer is the way to go!

Except, Vito Carleone’s mafia offer included a gun, contract and a slick guy wearing a fedora.
